Key Largo Weddings
Planning Your Perfect Day

Key Largo weddings are popular among couples from the South Florida area as well as from other parts of the state and even for a few from abroad.

Our little slice of island paradise provides the perfect backdrop for taking your vows, catching up with relatives on both sides and cementing your marriage with a new experiences like parasailing or scuba diving.

Choosing a Venue

Obviously, the venue you choose will be crucial to the success of your wedding. You may opt for a simple beach wedding, as many couples do—but you will still have to plan for those guests. Most of the hotels in Key Largo have the ability to accommodate your wedding.

There are even hotels which are designed specifically to cater to wedding guests, with idyllic prepared beach wedding spots and other pre-planned activities for you and your guests. Several of the other popular Key Largo hotels regularly host wedding ceremonies, so you may simply want to decide based on the appearance and setting of the hotel itself. Jimmy Johnson's Big Chill restaurant also caters for weddings. The owner of the Bayside Grille and Cafe Largo, Robert DiGorgio, also offers full wedding catering.

Call around and check out how many people each hotel can hold at a given time. You may find that the hotel you choose to stay at is not necessarily the one with the best facilities for your wedding. You should have a pretty good idea of how many people will attend your wedding ceremony and after party before you start making hotel arrangements. Take this into account before you decide on a venue.

There are also a number of local wedding planners who specialize in Key Largo weddings where they can use their knowledge of the area and contacts with hotels and restaurants to help ensure the whole experience runs smoothly and is stress free for you, your spouse to be, and the rest of your family.

The Banquet Menu

One of the most difficult aspects of organizing a wedding is settling on a menu for the reception that will keep all the guests happy and content. This is always easier said than done. You can either have your wedding feast at a restaurant like the Big Chill, or you can check out the banquet menus of the hotels you've identified as potential wedding spots to see who you think will best meet your needs. If you have any friends who got married in Key Largo or have been to a wedding here, ask for some opinions on the food at various hotels and restaurants.

Group Activities

Some hotels are better prepared and have superior facilities for dealing with a large wedding party than others. If you are planning an evening event you should find out what the hotel has to offer. At certain times of the year, usually anytime other than mid to late summer, a well-lit outdoor area where you and your guests can dance and enjoy yourselves would be perfect.

Consider some family activities for prior to or just after the wedding. It may be that you and your new spouse want time alone together or you might decide that can wait a day or two. If you do you’ll many fun activities to enjoy while both your families are together. Look into things like boat tours, you could get a boat and take all your guest fishing or diving or snorkelling. There are boats on Key Largo capable of handling small to large groups for all of these activities.
